The Next Generation of Bio-Fuels

With fuel prices steadily rising, biofuels have been heralded as the answer to the world's oil crisis, while at the same time they're being blamed for the destruction of rainforests and food riots around the world.

 

But not all biofuel production is bad. Science is getting serious about creating the next generation of biofuels. The focus is on non-food crops, and technology that can use waste paper and wood from agriculture and forest industries. Biofuels 2.0 is being developed in places like Australia so that supply can meet future demand. Cinnamon Nippard reports.
